METRO MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS
ASSOCIATION
MMCA
WHO WE ARE
MMCA is a national community for media and communications professionals serving churches, ministries, state conventions, and faith-based organizations and universities. We exist to create meaningful connection, provide encouragement, and help those who serve behind the scenes grow stronger in their work, their relationships,
and their ministry.
Build relationships with people who understand the work.
MMCA brings together professionals who face many of the same challenges, responsibilities, and pressures. Through conferences, online communities, and ongoing interaction, members can build relationships that extend far beyond a single event.
Find support from people
who have been there.
Behind-the-scenes ministry can be demanding, and it’s easy to feel isolated. MMCA creates space to ask questions, share challenges, celebrate wins, and receive encouragement from peers who understand both the technical work and the ministry behind it.
Learn, share, and become better
at what you do.
Our members bring experience from media, communications, technology, production, design, marketing, and more. MMCA gives professionals opportunities to learn from one another, exchange ideas, solve problems, and continue
developing their skills.
Connect with the tools and resources that help ministry thrive.
MMCA builds relationships with trusted industry partners who understand the unique needs of churches and faith-based organizations. Those connections give members access to resources, solutions, expertise, and technology that can help them serve their ministries more effectively.
OUR LEADERSHIP
MMCA is volunteer-led by a team of officers elected by the members in attendance at the Annual Conference Business Meeting. Officers serve rotating terms with term limits, and elections are held every two years. The current team was elected in 2025/2026.

OUR BELIEFS
MMCA is a faith-based organization built around shared biblical convictions. We ask that our members, and the organizations they represent, be aligned with or supportive of the beliefs outlined here.
God
We believe there is one, living and true God. He exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Each fully God, yet distinct in role, purpose, and relationship, deserving worship and obedience.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is part of the trinity, God the Son. He was born human, lived a perfect sinless life, bore our shame on the cross. He was sacrificed for our sins, died, and rose again three days later to conquer death. We believe that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the only way to truly receive Salvation.
Bible
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the true, inspired, and authoritative Word of God, and is without error.
Man
We believe man, created in God’s image, was originally designed for fellowship with Him, but through disobedience, incurred sin and its consequences, alienating themselves from God, thereby needing salvation.
Salvation
We believe the wages of sin is death and all of humanity has a debt before God that we can never repay. We believe salvation is solely by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, who lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and offers forgiveness and reconciliation to all who repent, surrender to Jesus as Lord, and believe.
The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ connected to Jesus as the head. The purpose of the Church is to worship God, equip believers for ministry, and to evangelize the world.
The World
We understand the world is a fallen place and that we are in the world, but not of the world. We believe, as Christians, that we should oppose racism, greed, selfishness, vice, sexual immorality, including homosexuality and pornography. We should work with all people for the advancement of the Gospel without compromising our loyalty to Christ and His truth.
OUR HISTORY
The Metro Media & Communications Association (MMCA) traces its roots to 1984, when a small group of media ministers serving in Southern Baptist churches came together with a shared commitment to excellence in ministry...

These were pioneers in church television, navigating uncharted territory with vision, creativity, and a desire to honor God through their craft. They needed a place to exchange ideas, face challenges together, and build community with others who understood the demands of media ministry. From that sense of purpose, MMCA was born.
What began with just a handful of leaders has grown into a nationwide network representing more than 120 churches. As the needs of the church have evolved, so has MMCA. Today, the association includes not only media ministers but also communications and IT professionals whose leadership roles place them at the intersection of technology, storytelling, and the gospel.
In 2023, the organization changed its name from the Metro Media Ministers Association (MMMA) to the Metro Media & Communications Association to better reflect the diversity and breadth of its growing membership. The revised name came with updated membership criteria, creating space for more professionals to join—regardless of congregation size or budget—as long as they shared a desire to pursue excellence in ministry communication.
Although MMCA began among Southern Baptist churches, it has never been narrowly exclusive. From the beginning, the association welcomed members from like-minded churches. In 2024, MMCA affirmed its Christian identity by adopting a statement of beliefs aligned with the core doctrines of the Baptist Faith and Message. At the same time, it formally removed SBC affiliation from its charter, emphasizing its independence while remaining firmly rooted in biblical truth.
Through all the changes, MMCA has stayed true to its founding vision: to be a community where professionals in media, communications, and IT find not only practical support and technical insight, but also spiritual encouragement for their work, families, and ministries.
In 2026, MMCA took steps to become fully independent of the conference host churches. This allowed operations and financial transparency that hadn't been available to the association. MMCA filed for a 501(c)(3) and nonprofit status in the state of Missouri and accepted amendments to the bylaws that allowed for an appointed Treasurer and Trustee positions to provide administrative stability.
Members of MMCA find more than just resources and connection. They become part of a fellowship committed to excellence and united in a calling to bring glory to God through their gifts, creativity, and leadership.
