MMCA MEMBERSHIP

Membership in MMCA is a way to find encouragement from like-minded laborers in the church. The demands of the ministry areas we serve in can make these roles both challenging and isolating. Having a community of professionals to turn to for advice, counsel, and encouragement is invaluable. Having a community of people who understand your professional struggles is also critical to your longevity in ministry.

Membership in the Metro Media & Communications Association is designed to provide the highest level of benefit to those who are part of the organization. Therefore, membership criteria have been established not to be exclusive, but simply to give the greatest amount of value possible to those who commit their time and travel funds to the organization.

What Members Experience

These past 27 years have brought long-term friendships that have truly been a

blessing. The information I have gathered, the real-life examples of what others are

doing in ministry, and the relationships that have been created are invaluable. I have a great support system in our church, but having a group of people who do what I do and are committed to excellence and to serving the Lord through media has been a resource that has greatly impacted my life and ministry.

TIM MARTIN

I’ve been in my role for 7 years and have never made any connections with guys in similar roles. MMCA has allowed me to connect with people who want to pour into each other and help grow each other not only as Tech or communications people, but as followers of Christ. I love that I have a community who knows exactly what struggles I go through in the role that I serve in. I

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA

The Membership Criteria outlined here serve as general guidelines. Certain requirements, such as church size, affiliation, or budget, may be waived when MMCA leadership determines it is appropriate. Most importantly, prospective members and the organizations they represent should be aligned with the beliefs adopted by MMCA. Criteria below are identified as either Member (M) or Organization (O) requirements.

M

MMCA membership is by an individual at a qualifying church/entity, and not by the organization itself.

M

Prospective members should be recommended by a current member in good standing.

M

Members should affirm the MMCA statement of faith/beliefs.

M

Members should serve on their organization’s staff (church, state convention, college/university) full-time with a primary leadership role of media and/or communications.

M

Members will provide a level of commitment to MMCA by the payment of annual dues by March 31. Members will also make efforts to attend the annual summer conference whenever possible.

O

The church must have a functioning media and/or communications ministry with the potential member serving as a full-time leader in one of these areas.

O

The church could also have a multi-site or multi-venue model.

O

Members should serve on the staff of a church with an annual operating budget of at least $2.5 million.

O

Members should be responsible for combinations of other media and/or communications ministries including audio, lighting, print, web, marketing, branding, and/or information technology.

O

The potential member church size and ministry expectations will be considered by the elected officers when determining approval of the application.
